My name is Anne Marie Williams better known as “Jedda”. I am a native of Hartford, mother of two remarkable daughters and Jedda to seven gorgeous granddaughters and two handsome grandsons.
I have made a positive impact on my community by teaching in Hartford Public and Private Schools as an educator and as a performing artist through song, music, movement, storytelling, professional workshops, after school programming, theatrical plays and my life’s project “Living Legends Among Us” honoring our gems and pearls of our community. I have created an intergenerational opportunity for our youth to come to know and experience the elders of their community, and for these elders their moment to share their pearls of wisdom with our youth. My favorite opportunities have been in a small circle of learning with our young children; who I have imparted knowledge and inspired. I give them pearls of my wisdom though songs, stories, fitness, theater, music and movement. My methodology creates the freedom to express their understanding of the world they have come to know filled with fun, empathy and aspired learning; which I hope will empower them to “GO MAD” Go Make A Difference in their lifetime.
I am an Early Childhood Educator, Master Teaching Artist, an Educational Program Designer, and Performing Artist who is a songstress, dancer and actress, and an architect of each form. I am the founder, artisan and educational program designer of K La Rue Educational Art in Motion “Where Learning is an Adventure!” which was inspired in 1986 and established in 1987. I have served as an educational resource for schools, teachers and parents in the Greater Hartford area and the surrounding towns for the past thirty-five years.
Performance venues and educational workshops developed and presented for: Hartford Performs; Hartford Public Library; Playhouse on Park, Act Up Theatre; Catholic Charities; Commission on the Arts; Hot Schools, Connecticut Arts Council; Open Studio; Big E!; Envision Fest Hartford; Hartford's Mayor Family Fair; The Office for Young Children; Hartford Public School System; The Village for Families and Children; Hartford Conservatory; Capital Community College; Odd Fellows Theater; The Artist’s Collective; University of Hartford; Joe Picture This Show Inc.; Wadsworth Museum; Urban Artists Initiative; Loomis Chaffee Multicultural Institute and the Capitol Region Educational Council.
